Fruit bodies emerges from an underground egg up to 3 cm long.
The mature fruiting body has a white or pinkish stalk up to 10 cm high.
At the base is the volva with remnants of the egg sac.
On top of the hollow white stalk is a red disc.
From the disc 9 to 10 arms radiate out.
Each arm, up to 4 or 5 cm long splits into 2 near the tip.
The greenish slimy spore containing gleba is on the disc and arms.
