There are about 40 species, known as Australian Heath.
They are native in S. E. Queensland.
The shrubs have simple leaves on short stalks.
Inflorescences are solitary flowers in the leaf axils.
There are numerous bracts around the base of the short flower stalks.
The calyx has 5 sepals.
The 5 petals are fused to form a cylindrical tube with small end lobes.
The 5 stamens, on short filaments, are inserted into the top of the tube.
There are 5 locules in the ovary each with several ovules attached to the axis.
There is 1 style that just extends beyond the top of the corolla tube.
It is attached to a depression in the top of the ovary.
The fruit is a capsule that splits into the chambers.
