Platycerium veitchii

Platycerium Veitchii – Silver Elkhorn.

The Silver Elkhorn is closely related to Platycerium bifurcatum.

Its common name comes from the dense covering of white hairs.

Nest fronds are round or kidney shaped.
The upper margin can be entire but usually has long, thin lobes.

The fertile/foliage fronds are upright then droop.
They have a narrow base which divides into up to 8 lobes.
The underside is white due to the stellate hairs.
Sporangia are on the terminal lobes, sometimes onto the tips.

It forms pups.

There are some cultivars.
