Older leathery fruit bodies can be up to 30 cm or more across and 5 cm thick.
The smooth upper surface is orange-red to a brownish-orange.
The surface may develop some undulations or wrinkles.
The pale edge is sometimes lobed.

The pore surface is whitish to yellowish later beoming orange.
Both surfaces constantly exude drops of fluid.
