Polyporus

Polyporus craterellus.

Phylum Basidiomycota > Order Polyporales > Family Polyporaceae.

The genus Bresadolia was a synonym of Polyporus.
It was re-established in 2017 but many sources still use Polyporus.

MycoBank has Bresadolia as a legitimate genus, Index Fungorum as ‘Assumed legitimate’.
It is Polyporus in Australia.

On dead wood they are seen as a solitary fruit body or in small groups of a few.
The stalks are up to 5 cm high and the caps up to 14 cm across.

The centre of the cap has a shallow to deep depression.
The depression is off centre making the cap hemispherical or kidney-shaped.
Deep depressions make them funnel-like.

There are concentric zones of pale to deep brown or reddish-brown on the upper surface.
The edge is wavy or lobed and there are radial marginal striations.

The white or cream pore surface runs down onto the stalk.
The pores are angular.
